Ross Marwick
Co-Founder & Head of Personal Training
Setting the standard for evidence-led personal training in Edinburgh. I don’t just train clients; I train the trainers who support your journey.
Movement is medicine—but only if the dose is right.
As a co-founder of Health by Science, my goal was to bridge the gap between physiotherapy in Edinburgh and high-level performance.
I believe that whether you are recovering from a stroke or training for a triathlon, the principles of science remain the same: progressive overload, consistency, and a deep understanding of the ‘why’ behind every movement.
I lead our team to ensure that every session—whether 1-to-1 or in a group—is built on these foundations of safety and confidence.
My role at Health by Science
Leading the standard of care across our Personal Training and Thrive Rehab programs.
- HBS Academy Director: I am responsible for the internal training and development of our Personal Trainers, ensuring they deliver the HBS biopsychosocial approach to every client.
- Thrive Class Architect: I designed the delivery framework for our Thrive rehabilitation classes, ensuring that people living with chronic conditions like Stroke or MS have access to the same elite-level coaching principles as a professional athlete.
- Complex Case Management: I work closely with our Physiotherapy team to transition clients from acute pain back into a life of high-performance movement.
Training for life
I believe that the gym should be a tool for a better life, not a replacement for it. My philosophy is “Long-term Independence.”
Through personal training in Edinburgh, my goal is to coach you to the point where you have the confidence to manage your own health.
We aren’t here to provide a “patch-up”; we are here to help you move with confidence for the rest of your life.
